Weston Bancroft first started working with clay in 2019. He took his first real pottery class 2 years later in his freshman year of high school at Francis Parker. Weston quickly fell in love with throwing on the wheel and has been working to refine his skills ever since.
In January of 2023 Weston made a small studio in his garage where he makes most of his pieces now. He later created his instagram page and online website. He currently attends La Jolla High school and will be graduating in the spring of 2024. He plans to attend Santa Clara University in the fall of 2024 to continue his artistic career and water polo career.
Weston aims to make pieces that have simplistic components that are complemented by fluid or abstract accents that allow each piece to have its own personality, its own identity that separates them from each other. His style is influenced by local artists around his hometown of La Jolla, such as Joe Skoby and Theo Hirschfield, as well as many potters around the globe, ranging from England to Japan. Weston’s goal is to find his style through experimentation of different techniques and using influence from the environment of his hometown.
